Oh, I 'awww'ed like a moron through the whole thing. I LOVE wee, five year-old David and Jack and David's private morning thing. I really like reading Mayer's perspective. I just think the whole thing is simplistically beautiful.
I love this story. I've read it so many times, I've lost count, and I just realized I've never reviewed it - somehow!
Anyway it's adorable, and never ceases to put a smile on my face. Especially this line:
"Not that his son was with another boy--young man, he corrected himself--but that his son wasn't so little anymore."

Aww!! I've never before read this but was glad that I did. The flashbacks to David's childhood were touching as was the way you used the coffe to symbolize how David was growing up! Too many people make David's relationship with his father bad and it was nice for a change. I love it and I applaude the great work!
